Riano
Riano is a superb chestnut gelding born 28.5.04 with three white socks and a blaze on a stunning head. He has a lovely temperament and bold outlook. He is a truly quality type with very correct conformation, fantastic strong limbs and plenty of bone with a good breadth in front. He has straight movement and is well balanced in canter.
He is by the Approved stallion Unbelievable Darco who was the Horse and Hound Foxhunter Champion as a 5 year old, winner at Zangersheide World Breeding Jumping Championships in 6 year olds, and in 2005 is winning at 1.40 open and International Trial level. He has over £12000 in BSJA winnings.
Darco needs no introduction as a prolific winner in Grand Prix and World Cups he also gave Belgian rider Ludo Philippaerts his 1992 Olympic ride. Ludo also rode a son of Darco at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 (Otterongo). Darco is currently ranked 8th in the world as a sire of showjumpers.
Unbelievable Darco’s Dam is by Grandeur who is by Grannus, one of the most successful sires of showjumpers in the world. Grannus was ranked 1st in the WBFSH list of showjumping sires in 95/96 and 4th in the whole period 91 – 2000. He is the sire of top showjumpers Grannusch and Top Gun.
Riano’s dam is Touch of Irish. She is liver chestnut and is SHB GB graded with a mark of 8.71. A stunning yet workmanlike mare, with amazing quality, scope and temperament. She’s had many wins in hand, loose jumping, BSJA and Working Hunter classes.
She is by the legendary Ballinvella with her Dam’s sire being the equally notable Touch Stone.
