Stud Fee £500 Concessions to Graded & winning mares

Natural Cover

  • Stud fee payable on arrival of the mare at Bere Meadows. Visiting mares and/or foals may not be removed until all stud fees, keep and vets fees have been paid
  • No Foal 15 % Fee 1st October (if mare certified barren by 1st October of the current stud season the stud fee will be returned, less 15 % which will be retained by Bere Meadows. If a mare loses her foal after 1st October in the year in which she is covered we regret that no fee will be returned.
  • Covering Fee : We reserve the right to charge a covering fee of up to £50 per service.

These are stud keep fees only. They may be raised to our normal full livery rate if mares/foals are not removed within a reasonable period after the owner has been notified that she is ready for collection. We reserve the right to give additional feed/supplements when we deem necessary.

  • Farrier Mare should be sent recently attended to by the farrier with hind shoes removed. Mares and foals will have their feet trimmed as necessary and the owner will be charged accordingly.
  • Worming Mares and foals will be wormed on arrival at Bere Meadows and then as per our worming programme. The owner will be charged accordingly.
  • Vets Fees All expenses incurred for visits, examinations, scanning and medicines will be paid directly to the Veterinary surgeon at the end of each month. If mare is transported to Pembers Hill Stud for scanning a fee of £15 will be charged. Scan costs will be charged as per Pembers Hill Stud price list.
  • Equine Flu and Tetanus Toxoid Certificate No mare will be allowed on the stud without a valid certificate.
  • Swabs All mares must have a veterinary certificate stating mare has been swab tested and is free from infection (including Contageious Equine Metritis) and is fit for breeding (including gynecological examination). We also require blood tests for EVA.
  • Disclaimer Mares and foals whilst at Bere Meadows will receive every possible care, attention and supervision but no responsibility can be taken for accident, loss or disease howsoever caused. Any veterinary assistance will be called in if necessary and will be chargeable to the mare owner. All mares are served at their owners risk and no responsibility can be accepted for injury, damage or loss caused through trying or serving any mare.

Should it become dangerous to the mare, stallion or staff to continue trying to cover any mare we reserve the right to discontinue any further attempts and you will be requested to collect her. Your stud fee will be refunded less handling fee and any other fees incurred to date.

  • Visits, delivery and collection of mares are strictly by appointment.
     

Artificial Insemination with Fresh semen

  • This will take place at Pember’s Hill Stud Farm, Durley, Hampshire. A set procedure fee is chargeable by them which is additional to the Stud Fee. 
  • Stud fee payable to Bere Meadows prior to arrival of the mare at Stud. 
  • No Foal 20 % Fee 1st October (if mare certified barren by 1st October of the current stud season the stud fee will be returned, less 20 % which will be retained by Bere Meadows. If a mare loses her foal after 1st October in the year in which she is covered we regret that no fee will be returned.

Artificial Insemination with chilled semen

  • This can take place at Pember’s Hill Stud Farm, Durley, Hampshire. A set procedure fee is chargeable by them which is additional to the Stud Fee. The collection fee is £100 for a first collection, £60 for any subsequent collections. The same Stud fees terms will apply as for fresh semen.
     
  • Alternatively Chilled semen can be supplied direct to you. It will be sent in specialist containers and an additional £150 charge is payable in advance to cover courier and container fees incurred. Any of these fees not paid out will be refunded to you. Any additional fees with be charged at cost and will be payable by return. Non payment of fees could result in delays so prompt payment is essential. 

    All inseminations must be carried out by a BEVA approved veterinary surgeon. The mare must be swabbed clean and be considered a good fertile prospect for chilled semen. She should be scanned to give an accurate time to inseminate. The optimum time is from 12 hours before to 18 hours after ovulation.
     
  • Stud fee, collection charge and courier/container fees payable to Bere Meadows prior to any semen being sent. 
  • No Foal 25 % Fee 1st October (if mare certified barren by 1st October of the current stud season the stud fee will be returned, less 25 % which will be retained by Bere Meadows. If a mare loses her foal after 1st October in the year in which she is covered we regret that no fee will be returned.
  • Cancellation fee In all cases for AI 25% of the stud fee will be charged for any nomination not taken up unless a veterinary certificate is produced stating a valid reason for the mare not being inseminated.
