Voltaire, one of the most influential showjumping sires of the present day, is the result of crossing two outstanding bloodlines: Furioso II and Gotthard. Furioso II produced over 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved stallions. Gotthard is 15 years after his death a legend in German breeding his name being a synonym for the Hannovarian showjumper. Voltaire was the sire of the most offspring at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and has over 40 approved sons in Europe. The “preferent” stallion Concorde is his most illustrious son. Foltaire is a famous offspring in the International Dressage arena. In 2001 Voltaire was Hunter sire of the year in the USA.
